This is a nice route to use during the COVID shutdown. It's not too busy on the weekends, so if you don't want to go over the GW Bridge you can still get in a pleasant ride. It takes a short route thru the Bronx that isn't totally urban. Then it eventually takes you onto the South County Trailway - the good section that's not bumpy. There are several pit stops, but no lunch stop. Bring decent snack food. On the way home you can stop at Lloyd's Carrot Cake for a sweet treat.
Route starts at J. Hood Wright Park on Ft. Washington at 173rd St. (Turn left at 173rd St and immediately bear right down the path into the park.) There are bathrooms in the lefthand building. There are other park bathrooms also open along the route. This ends on Ft. Washington below the Bridge, so though it seems short, add the mileage to & from home.
