Located near the NJ/PA border, this is a ride through the back roads of equestrian country. It is a very challenging 52 mile ride consisting of 14 climbs totaling 6,600 vertical feet. The hills are quite steep, so please be prepared to have adequate low gearing. A 39x25 or lower gear is recommended. Please refer to the cue sheet and map, hill profiles included, for more details. Most turns are either 1st left/right or at the end of the road. Note the turn “key” located on each of the 2 cue sheets respectively; they are the same information just differing in page layout to satisfy your personal preference. Extra pocket food and water is advised due to the challenging nature of this ride and there are few food stops along the way. Also note blue sky laws are practiced here, so Saturday is the preferred weekend day. Many of the country roads are narrow, with blind spots, so please be sure to stay to the right, especially on some of the very fast descents. It's advised to do this ride on dry roads only. One must drive to the start. There is no weekend public transport for this area. NYC Driving Directions: Approximately 1 hour drive from the Holland Tunnel to Lebanon, NJ. Holland Tunnel -> US 1/9 South -> I 78 West/ Garden State Parkway (Newark Airport vicinity) -> I-78 West, Express Lane. Remain on I-78 West for approximately 30 miles. Exit 20A, Lebanon (If you inadvertently exit onto 20B, Cokesbury Rd - make a very radical sharp left onto Cokesbury Rd). Turn Right onto Cokesbury Rd from the I-78 exit 20A. Cross Rte 22 at traffic light then make a right onto Main St (about a 1/3 mile from exit). Then 1st, quick left onto Maple St, park at Lebanon Borough School on the left. Back-track with bicycle to Rte 22/Cokesbury Rd intersection to start the ride.
